pearl pansy flower ring sterling silver

Inspiration for the Pearlescent Pansy Collection

You’re not boring, so why should your jewelry be?!

Introducing the Pearlescent Pansies. These little showstoppers are available in two pearly shades and are a new Made to Order piece in the shop!

Are you familiar with the language of flowers, also known as floriography? Flowers are not only beautiful to look at, but they each have special meanings. Pansies are special flowers that represent loving feelings and can be given to a partner, a mother, friend, or to yourself to serve as a reminder to keep on loving YOU! It also symbolizes being a free thinker. In fact, the word “pansy” comes from the French word “penser” meaning “to think.”

Traditionally, pansies have always been a symbol for love. In Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the juice of a pansy was used in a love potion. This referenced the Ancient Greeks’ and Celts’ use of the flower in love potions, as well.

I love this book Floriography: An Illustrated Guide to the Victorian Language of Flowers by Jessica Roux (link this to Barnes and Noble). I use it for inspiration, but also to choose flowers with more purpose when I give them away as gifts. Once you start learning more about floriography, it’s so easy to get hooked!

Did you know the color of the pansy ALSO has a special meaning?

Red and violet: love and passion.

Yellow: happiness.

Blue: calmness and tranquility. Blue is also a pretty rare color for flowers, making the blue pansy even more special. This is the reason why I decided to make two different pansies in shades of blue!

Pink: innocence

Orange: warm and welcoming

And within these colors are so many variations between pastel blues and deep, dark oranges. Pansies are truly a unique flower and each one I’ve created will naturally be different from the last.

These sweet flowers are all made to order in your choice of color and size. The way the light hits the little flower will change the color because of the use of mica that’s been fired into the enamel. The colors will never fade or change over time, creating a beautiful timeless flower that will literally last forever.
