The way the red and orange light up in the sun is pure magic! The colors were inspired by the vibrant shades of red, orange and turquoise of Morocco.
In French, plique à jour translates to "letting in daylight." Once I saw out the design from a thick sheet of fine silver, I fill the open cells with transparent powdered glass (enamel) then fire the piece in the kiln. This creates a beautiful stained glass effect. These earrings glow with the sunlight creating a unique piece of wearable art.
These earrings were made in my studio in Redwood City, California.
The earrings dangle from sterling silver ear wires- I never use nickel or plated metals. I include a pro polishing pad so that you can keep all of your silver jewelry tarnish-free and bright!
